This Saturday, we’re hosting the 2nd Annual Oyster Shucking Contest at de Vere’s for Sac Oyster Fest. Local chefs will go head-to-head, and will be judged on speed, accuracy, how much brine is left on the shell, and presentation. The winner gets a plaque and a years’ worth of bragging rights.

Galway, home of the world’s original and biggest Oyster Festival, has similar competitions every year. Check out this 2009 nail biter between  Swedish, Canadian, American, and Estonian competitors.

See you Saturday–the celebration is all day long and the competition starts at 3pm!
